Should I use google analytics or google tag manager?

Should I use google analytics or google tag manager?

THE QUICK ANSWER IS AT LEAST GOOGLE ANALYTICS BUT IDEALLY TAG MANAGER AS IT CAN FIRE ONE TAG INSTEAD OF MANY.

Google Tag Manager allows you to fire all the scripts you might need to add from the one container – so analytics, pixel, and 3rd party requirements can all be fired using the one tag as opposed to them all being individually fired each time the page loads.

Suggestion…Make sure you have someone set it up properly as otherwise it may not be working properly and make sure you don’t install tag manager and analytics as you may have distorted statistics in your website data.

We can also use Tag Manager to fire goals – so things like clicks to social, click to call, click to email, form submissions, purchases, newsletter signups – they can all be tracked with the setup in Tag Manager and then configured in Analytics.

We see a lot of these setups not working quite right – resulting in distorted data so do the original setup right and you will have the right stats from the start.

Follow these steps:

1: Setup Tag Manager and Analytics accounts

2: Integrate them together so that the tag manager code is firing in the website

3: Setup all your scripts in Tag Manager and test they are firing, configure goals in Tag Manager and across in Analytics.
